Trypsin NB is derived from porcine pancreas of known origin. It contains also
chymotrypsin, elastase and non-proteolytic activities. Trypsin is a serin
protease used for protein digestion. It cleaves peptide bonds preferably at
the carboxyl side of the amino acids lysine or arginine, except when either is
followed by proline. Trypsin NB is not suitable for detachment of cells for
subculture, please refer to Cat. No. 37297. Specification: Tryptic

Unit definition: Trypsin activity (Ph. Eur.) The activity of
trypsin is determined by comparing the rate at which it hydrolyses
benzoylarginine ethyl ester hydrochloride R with the rate at which trypsin BRP
hydrolyses the same substrate in the same conditions. The activity is
stated in microkatal; 1 µkat hydrolyses 1 µmol substrate per second. 1 µkat
(Ph. Eur.) is equivalent to 60 FIP U.
