(Protein Standards, Protein marker, IEF Marker, IEF Standard)
The ready-to-use protein standard for isoelectric focusing (IEF) enables reliable and reproducible calibration of the isoelectric point (pI) of native proteins in polyacrylamide or agarose IEF gels. IEF Marker 3-10 contains nine native proteins in the pI range 3.5 to 10.7 (13 isoforms). The naturally red coloured cytochrome C facilitates monitoring of the focusing. In addition, the two dyes bromophenol blue and methyl red indicate migration progress. Bromophenol blue changes from blue to yellow as soon as it reaches the anodic region below pH 3. Methyl red migrates as a yellowish band that turns red below pH 6 and concentrates as a distinct band at pH 3.8. The dyes are removed from the gel during fixation/staining.
Staining with SERVA Violet 17 (cat. no. 35072 and 35074), SERVA Blue G (cat. no. 35050), SERVA Blue R (cat. no. 35051): 5 µl/lane for horizontal gels, 5 µl/lane for vertical gels
Silver staining: 1:10 dilution and 5 µl/lane
Buffer composition: 0.01 % Bromophenol blue (Na-salt), 0.01 % Methyl red (Na-salt), 10 %
