Skim milk powder is used as a blocking reagent in immunological assays like 
Western Blotting or ELISA. It is as well suitable for blocking of 
nitrocellulose filters in cDNA cloning.
It is not suitable for 
biotin/streptavidin detection systems, because milk contains biotin.
