Homogeneous by SDS-PAGE. Contains glycine as stabilizer. Major plasma protein in humans. Functions range from ion transport to the inhibition of proteinases. Inhibits most endoproteinases. Elevated levels are seen in clinical conditions such as cirrhosis, nephrotic syndrome, severe burns and diabetes (1). Package weight refers to weight of α2-macroglobulin.
