DNase-S is a recombinant endo-deoxyribonuclease of microbial origin. The enzyme digests single- and double-stranded DNA to the level of mono- and oligonucleotides.
Special features of DNase-S are the exceptionally high specific activity, a broad pH optimum (75 - 100 % activity between pH 7.0 and 10.0), a temperature optimum of 65 °C and a tolerance to high salt concentration (0.8 M guanidine isothiocyanate).
For optimal activity, the enzyme requires Mg²⁺ concentration ≥ 50 mM.
Supplied with DNase-S 5 x reaction buffer containing MgCl₂.

Unit definition: 1 DMC Unit catalyzes an increase in absorbance of 1.0 (260 nm) within 30 min (37 °C, pH 7.5, 1 mg DNA/ml).
