ASB-14

Synthetic detergent with a C14 alkyl tail. It is useful for solubilizing proteins for 2D-analysis. ASB-14 shows better protein solubilization properties than CHAPS, by which the identification of previously undetected membrane proteins was enabled.

Synonym: Amidosulfobetaine-14; 3-[N,N-Dimethyl-(3-myristoylaminopropyl)-ammonio]-propanesulfonate; 3-[N,N-Dimethyl-N-(3-myristamidopropyl)-ammonio)]-propane-1-sulfonate.

CAS registry number: [216667-08-2]

Molecular formula: C22H46N2O4S

Relative molecular mass (Mr): 434.7

Classification: Zwitterionic surfactant

Critical micellar concentration (CMC): 8 mM
